THE STEVENSON GYMNASIUM PROJECT UNDERTOOK THE REFURBISHMENT, REDESIGN AND NEW ADDITION TO THE STEVENSON GYMNASIUM AT BARD COLLEGE. COMPLETED IN 2012, THE PROJECT FOCUSED ON THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF NEW SQUASH CORT FACILITIES. THE COURTS INCORPORATED THE LATEST PERFORMANCE TECHNOLOGY FROM GERMANY AND INCORPORATED STEEL AND GLASS COMPONENTS IN A CLEAN, ELEGANT MANNER THAT REINFORCED THE STATE-OF-THE ART SQUASH COURTS. THE STEEL AND GLASS VOCABULARY WAS USED TO DETAIL THE VIEWING MEZZANINE, WHICH OPENS THROUGH A LARGE GLAZED OPENING ONTO THE WOODS BEYOND. SIMILAR STRATEGIES WERE USED TO REDESIGN, OPEN UP AND ENLARGE THE EXERCISE AND GYM AREAS, CREATING A COHERENT, LIGHT AND USER-FRIENDLY FACILITY.
