BARD MUSIC PAVILION IS A STAND-ALONE STUDENT MUSIC PRACTICE FACILITY AT BARD COLLEGE.

THE COLLEGE REQUIREMENTS WERE FOR A SIMPLE, LOW-COST FACILITY TO HOUSE TWELVE MUSIC PRACTICE ROOMS. IN ADDITION TO STRICT ACOUSTIC REQUIREMENTS, THE PROJECT NEEDED TO BE DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED WITHIN EIGHT MONTHS. WORKING WITH KIRCHOFF-CON-SIGLI, PAS STUDIOS SUCCESSFULLY SATISFIED THE CONSTRAINTS OF THE PROGRAM, BUDGET AND SCHEDULE, AS WELL AS DESIGNED A SIMPLE BUT THOUGHTFUL BUILDING, WHICH INTEGRATES INTO THE OVERALL CAMPUS PLAN AND IS WELL USED AND LIKED BY STUDENTS AND FACULTY ALIKE.

THE BUILDING IS INTEGRATED INTO THE FABRIC OF THE CAMPUS THROUGH CONSIDERATE SITE PLACEMENT, AS WELL AS BY MEANS OF MATERIALS, WHICH RELATE TO THE OTHER BUILDINGS ON CAMPUS. THROUGH CAREFUL DISTRIBUTION OF THE PROGRAM AROUND THE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE BUILDING, THE USER BENEFITS FROM DIRECT, SPECIFIC AND INDIVIDUAL ACCESS TO NATURAL LIGHT AND AIR. TWO GLAZED RECESSES LOCATED AT EITHER END OF THE STRUCTURE PROVIDE SHELTERED ACCESS TO THE BUILDING. THE LOCATION OF THESE ENTRANCES ENABLES FLUID CIRCULATION WITHIN THE BUILDING ITSELF AND TO THE GREATER NETWORK FO THE BARD COLLEGE CAMPUS.
