KLINE COMMONS IS THE PRIMARY DINING FACILITY AT BARD COLLEGE, ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON. THIS RENOVATION PROJECT, UNDERTAKEN IN 2012, RE-IMAGINED THE EXISTING HALL AS A SPACE WITH GREATER FLEXIBILITY OF PROGRAM AND USE. PSA STUDIOS WORKED CLOSELY WITH THE COLLEGE FOOD SERVICE PROVIDER AND STUDENTS TO DEVELOP A FRESH APPROACH TO STUDENT DINING. THEY DEVELOPED A MULTI-PHASE PROJECT, TWO PHASES OF WHICH HAVE BEEN COMPLETED. THE FIRST PHASE ADDITION, PRIMARILY HOUSES ADDITIONAL STUDENT SEATING, MEETING AND OFFICE SPACES, WHICH ARE FACILITATED BY A CURTAIN WALL THAT OPENS TO THE RUGBY FIELDS AND LIBRARY TO THE NORTH-EAST. THE SIMPLE COLUMNAR SUPERSTRUCTURE REFERENCES THE ORIGINAL GREEK INSPIRED LIBRARY, WHILE THE STONE BOOKENDS ARE A NOD TO THE ORIGINAL CAMPUS ARCHITECTURE EMBODIED IN STONE ROW.

THE MASTER PLAN WILL INCORPORATE A NEW KITCHEN AND SERVERY DESIGN THAT PRIORITIZES A LOCAL, ORGANIC, AND SUSTAINABLE THROUGHOUT THE CAMPUS. THE COVERALL CONCEPT RE-IMAGINES INSTITUTIONAL DINING TO INCORPORATE COMMUNITY-GROWN, ORGANIC PRODUCE, AND HAS BEEN HUGELY SUCCESSFUL.

PSA STUDIOS WORKED WITH THE BARD FARM INITIATIVE TO DEVELOP STORAGE FACILITIES FOR PRODUCE THAT WILL BE INCORPORATED INTO THE UPDATED KITCHEN FACILITIES. ADDITIONALLY PSA INTEGRATED CAMPUS-WIDE SYSTEMS ANALYSIS TO INCLUDE COMPOSTING AND RECYCLING AS FEATURES OF THE NEW DINING SERVICE.
