LANDMARK COMMISSION
NEW YORK NY

THE FOLLOWING PROJECTS SHOWCASES SOME OF THE WORK UNDERTAKEN WITH THE REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF NEW YORK CITY’S LANDMARK COMMISSION. THEY REPRESENT AN AREA OF EXPERTISE THAT IS PARTICULAR TO PSA STUDIOS, EXHIBITING THE PRACTICE’S RESPECT FOR, AND ABILITY TO WORK WITH, THE HISTORIC SITES GOVERNED BY THE NEW YORK CITY LANDMARK COMMISSION.

KENT STREET TOWNHOUSES
THIS TWELVE UNIT, MID-BLOCK RESIDENTIAL BUILDING LOCATED IN GREENPOINT, BROOKLYN EXISTS AS ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION WITH THE NYC LAND MARK COMMISSION. THE COMPLEXITIES OF THE SITE AND CONTEXT WERE RESOLVED THROUGH SENSITIVE ARCHITECTURAL MOVES WHICH, IN TURN, SERVED TO BOLSTER THE IDENTITY OF THE STREET BY LIFTING THE CHARACTER OF THE BUILDING FAÇADE.

EAST 63RD STREET, NEW YORK
THIS PROJECT UNDERTAKEN IN 2005, SOUGHT TO RETURN THE TOWNHOUSE ON EAST 63RD STREET TO ITS FORMER CLASSICAL CHARACTER. HAVING BEEN TREATED WITH A WHITE BRICK FAÇADE IN THE 1950’S THE BUILDING HAD LOST MUCH OF ITS CLARITY AND COHESION WITH THE SURROUNDING ARCHITECTURAL LANDSCAPE. PAS STUDIOS, WORKING IN CLOSE CONTACT WITH THE LANDMARK COMMISSION, WAS ABLE TO REVIVE THE CLASSICAL CHARMS AND ELEGANT PROPORTIONS OF THIS LENNOX HILL TOWNHOUSE

EAST 64TH STREET NEW YORK
THE EXTENSIVE REMODELING PROJECT, UNDERTAKEN IN 2006 AND APPROVED BY THE LANDMARK COMMISSION, ATTEMPTED TO RESTORE THE TOWNHOUSE ON EAST 64TH STREET TO ITS FORMER, TRADITIONAL ELEGANCE. BY UTILIZING ADVANCES IN BUILDING TECHNOLOGIES, PSA STUDIOS WAS ABLE TO CREATE GRAND SPACES WITHOUT COMPROMISING THE INTEGRITY OF THE BUILDING’S FORM OR STRUCTURE.
